Model: Deco X50-Outdoor
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Background Details:

I have the following network topology: 1*Deco X50+ 2*Deco X50-POE+ 2*Deco X50-Outdoor

Now the problem is that, randomly, one of the Deco X50-POE/Deco X50-Outdoor couldn’t be powered up.

Case Analysis:

The working power of Deco X50-POE_V1 is: up to 14.4W for EU version; and up to 18W for US version.
The working power of Deco X50-Outdoor_V1 is: up to 15.5W for EU version and up to 17W for US version.

TL-SG1005P with 4 POE ports:

  • Supports PoE Power up to 30 W for each PoE port
  • Supports PoE Power up to 65 W for all PoE ports

In this way, TL-SG1005P could barely cover 2*Deco X50-POE(EU)+2*Deco X50-Outdoor(EU). But the power supply is not nearly enough for 2*Deco X50-POE(US)+2*Deco X50-Outdoor(US). TL-SG116P would be an excellent alternative.

So, How to select the right POE switch?

  • PoE standard: Use IEEE802.3at or IEEE802.3bt standard.
  • Number of ports: Select the number of PoE ports according to the number of your PoE-powered devices.
  • Transmission rate: For faster speed, a gigabit switch is recommended (Deco X50-PoE has a 2.5G port, you can also buy a switch with a 2.5G port).
  • PoE Power Budget: A PoE switch power budget is the total amount of power output available to the PoE ports of the switch. The total power required by all PoE devices should not exceed the PoE switch’s overall power budget. Otherwise, the powered devices may be unstable or even unable to be powered on.
