How to Connect Travel Router as VPN without hotel Password
Seems like most hotels and airports now provide access to WiFi without requiring entering a password. How are people connecting their WR902AC travel router to hotspot Mode at Hotels or airports without knowing the password? TP-Link support indicates source password is required in order to connect in hotspot mode.

Usually the hotspots at hotels and airports are using captive portals which will prevent connecting devices like WR902AC:
" A captive portal is a webpage that the user of a public network is required to view and interact with before they can access the network. It is typically used by business centers, airports, hotel lobbies, coffee shops and other public venues that offer free Wi-Fi hotspots for internet users. "

That's correct. But not every hotspot has been built with a captive portal - you just have to find one that can be used to connect the WR902AC.

Thanks for the info @terziyski . TP-Link should warn people about this. The device becomes much less valuable now.
