Can I assign devices to a band. I want my TV on the 5ghz band but the router has it assigned to the 2.4ghz band. Thanks

Just turn off the Smart Connect and rename one of the SSIDs.  For example, if your SSID is "WiFi", just rename the 5 GHz SSID to "WiFi_5G".  You can name them anything you want but it's easier to remember them if you just attach a suffix to one of them.  Usually, the user renames the 5G SSID to avoid having to reconfigure IoT devices that normally use the 2.4 GHz band.

Your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands will need to have different SSIDs.  If your router has a Smart Connect feature and it is enabled, then the SSIDs are the same and you  probably can't tell your TV (or any other device) which band to use.  If you have a mesh network, I'm not sure if the SSID's can be different or not.

Update:  I just tested my EasyMesh network with different SSIDs for the two bands and everything works fine. Band selection is just a matter of telling your devices which SSID to use.

  @jra11500

Thanks Jjra11500. Is it as easy as turning off the SmartConnect feature and setting up another SSID? Will I have to setup 2 SSIDs or keep the one I have and just add another?

Thanks!
