Hello,

I recently purchased a new router, the Archer C80.

I'm considering whether to use it in router mode or AP mode. Could you please explain the differences between the two?

Here's my setup: My ISP provided me with a router, the Nokia G2425G-A, located in my bedroom. A LAN cable runs from one of its LAN ports to the living room, connected to the WAN port of the C80. Another LAN cable runs from one of the LAN ports of the C80 to my computer.

Thank you!

With the topology you've described I'd use C80 in AP mode.

Thus all your devices behind Nokia G2425G-A would be in the same subnet and you'll avoid a double NAT (if C80 is in router mode).

Here's the difference between router mode and AP mode.
