Hi

I have just got a tp link east smart switch for my home network and I have two Poe x50 units at either end of my house however one x50 is still piggy backing off the other via Wi-Fi when they are both hard wired to the switch.

can anyone advise how to get them both linking though the switch which is in the middle of the house where my router is?

As far as I can see this can only work when they are set to access point mode but then you loose fast roaming and other features is that correct?

thanks

john

You will not lose fast roaming after switching Deco mesh to Access Point mode. For the feature differences between the Router and AP mode see What’s the difference between Access Point mode and Router mode on the Deco?

This won't work with practically any brand of WiFi mesh that supports Ethernet backhaul. If you really need Deco router features, you'll have to buy one more Deco unit and configure your Deco mesh the following way:

Main Deco does not have to be X50 POE, any Deco from X-series can do, such as X20, X50, X55, etc.
