Hello,

 

I just got my router and I wanted to open external port 80 for my raspberry pi web server, however I am unable to access said server from outside, even after googling "whats my ip" and then entering that IP address into my browser search bar, all I got is "X.X.X.X took too long to respond".

When I enter the internal IP address while on the network, it works and loads the website without any issues, however whenever I try to access it from the outside, I either get "took too long to respond" or "refused to connect".

If your C6 WAN IP address is the range between 100.64.0.0 and 100.127.255.255 then you're behind a CG-NAT - call your ISP and ask for assistance.

If your C6 WAN IP address is in the following ranges then you're behind double NAT and your ISP could advise you if their device can be bridged:

  • 10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255
  • 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255
  • 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255

Compare the ""whats my ip" and then entering that IP address" with your C6 WAN IP address:

 

 

If they are different then you're behind double NAT or CG-NAT and that's the reason this is not working.

For port-forwarding to work these IP addresses should be the same.

  @terziyski I just checked, it is not the same. Is there any way to work around this?

If your C6 is your main router and there's no any other ISP device before it then only your ISP can advise on this question.

  @terziyski It is connected to some little VSOL device with an antenna, besides that there's nothing else.
