My new deco ap1200 says "strong signal" but it only is recording 1mbps downloads. A broadband app test shows the expected speed of 240mbps. Why is this?

Hi. It’s a deco e4. It’s still showing as 1-2 mbps rather than 250. That said, the connection seems ok and I’m getting WiFi although not perfect. Here's a screenshot.

  @Mcgratho

Hey

This is quite a common thing with Deco and others have asked the same question you have, the numbers you are looking at are the current rates of download traffic through the Deco, not the WiFi connection speed.

These numbers will change as you stream netflix, download something etc, its really just a live sample of how much traffic is going through the Deco at that time.

As long as the speedtest is reading the correct speed for your line, then this is working OK.. but yes i agree its confusing and a rather useless metric to display!

Can you give us some more information on this, what device you are using and how you are testing this for example.   Any screenshots you can provide would help!
