Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20220621 rel.71166(4341)

I'm trying to filter explicit content using the parental controls in the Tether app on router AX3000 (Archer AX55).

1. I create a new profile and add my device.

2. I verify that websites are showing up in the top 5 most visited websites, which means I have the correct device.

3. I verify that both a manual block and a bedtime completely disable internet from my device.

4. I enter "filter content" and check "Adult Content" and hit "Save".

5. Even after attempting to filter adult content, the device can still freely navigate to explicit content such as pornhub, xvideos, or explicit google results.

I ALSO have the AX5400 (Archer AX73) in a different house, and I've tested it and am finding the exact same issue on this device using the steps above.

Tether is up to date with v3.8.6 on Android. Both routers have fully updated firmware.

What am I missing?? I can't seem to find anyone else with this problem, and yet I can't get basic filters set up on two separate tp-link routers.

@ChrisTaylor

What is the device that you are trying to configure the Parental Control filter rules? Please check and ensure the device is not using a Private Address, which may void the Parental Control rules. Please check this FAQ for more details.

Try following this FAQ to disable it, then confirm again if Parental Control works.

  @Kevin_Z  I don't have private address enabled. The device is correct. If I pause the internet it works. The adult blocking from the teen category works. But the site specific filters don't work. It's not YouTube, it's any site I add. In fact, I see the sites being accessed in the quick view and block them directly from there but I can access them again and I see them again in quick view with the greyed out option because they've already been blocked.

@Zorbs What is the model number of the TP-Link router? Is it AX73 or AX55? Please check and ensure the router firmware is up-to-date.

Are you using any VPN connection in the network? If yes, please try disabling the VPN connection on the client devices that you are blocking the website access, then monitor if it works.

If possible, please show us how do you configure the Parental Control settings on the router, then we can analyze further. You can email the settings on the router to support.forum@tp-link.com. Thank you.
