I just got the verizon 5G home network.  I am getting download speeds to it in the range of 240 to 340 Mbps.  

I disabled the DHCP on the verizon box and also turned off its wifi so it is basically just a modem now. 

I configured the main deco to receive a static IP.  I also have 3 other decos that are all ethernet backhauled.  

Everything is working great and it is very stable.  No devices are dropping off and all the backhauled decos are indicating they are on ethernet.  

I just have 1 issue... the speed on my wired devices is only around 45Mbps and wireless is around 75 to 95 Mbps.  This is less than 1/3 the speed of the incoming signal.

 

I am currently running 1 ethernet from the verizon box straight to port 1 on the main deco.  Then that deco runs an ethernet out to a tp link switch. 

Even when I hook my laptop directly to the main deco (bypassing the switch) I still only get 45Mbps.  If I hook the laptop directly to the verizon box with the same cable I can get 300Mbps.  It is as though the main deco is cutting the signal down drastically.  I was reading online about changing the MTU setting to 1428 to match verizon, but that setting is not available on the X55.  Any suggestions on why the speed might be dropping?

Hi, the first thing you should check is the QoS. It should be in the HomeShield and make sure it is set to 1000/1000 m/s.

I did see once about the MTU and a user here also provided detailed instructions on how to check whether MTU is capped at the speed:

When the laptop is wired to Deco, manually change the MTU to be 1420 or whatever ISP required on the laptop to see whether it would improve the speed.

 And it looks that the speed on the PC is always under 100m/s, please also change a different cable and check the wired link speed on the PC is always 1000m/s.

Oh wow! That did it! I didn't realize the defaults were 50 and 12. Why would the defaults be so low?
