Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I've recently bought and set my 2 pack Deco M4. On the base with the ethernet connection, I'm seeing 1000 Mbps download and 20-30 Mbps upload.

However, even I'm near the base or second Deco, the top wireless speed I'm seeing is 450-500 Mbps.

Shouldn't at least near the routers I should be able to see higher speeds?

Will it change anything in terms of speed if I switch to AP mode instead of Router?

Thanks in advance

If you switch Deco mesh to AP mode, that will disable all content filtering and bandwidth management features in Deco. The top wireless speed might increase as a result. What wireless speed you will be getting in AP mode is the best Deco M4R hardware can deliver at your place, with mobile device you are using for testing speed.

Deco M4R is WiFi5. You should not expect more than 500-600Mbps with WiFi5 mesh. If you want faster wireless speeds, approaching gigabyte, you should invest in WiFi6 capable mesh. For Deco brand, these would be X-series, such as: X20, X55, X60, X68, X90.

Your mobile device should support WiFi6, too.
