Model: TL-MR6400
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.1.0.0.9.1

Hi

I have purchased a TP-Link TL-MR6400, to provide a WIFI internet connection into my LAN network, I do need to keep my current router connected, is it possible to use the MR6400 and my current router together on the same LAN.

Can anyone explain what settings I would need to change or the best and easiest way to achieve my goal.

I have 5 PC’s connected via a LAN network with poor internet. My current router’s IP address is 10.0.0.1 (DHCP enabled) and the MR6400 is 192.168.1.1.

Kind Regards

Hi, it seems that you would like to use the MR6400 as an access point only instead of a router.

The MR6400 doesn't have separate access point mode, but you could try to configure it manually:

1. change the MR6400 LAN IP address to be same subnet as your current router such as 10.0.0.2

2. disable the DHCP server on MR6400

3. connect MR6400 to your current router via Ethernet cable

Then connect a laptop to the MR6400 via either Ethernet cable or via WiFi to see if the laptop will be able to obtain IP address from your current router and if internet works.
