Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.5.1

My goal is to setup an isolated network for my IoT devices.

The configuration is:

  • Router+Switch: pFsense running on a mini-computer with multiple NICs.
  • WAPs: Three Deco x60 with Ethernet backhaul directly to the router.  They are in Access Point mode and are still a mesh.  Guest Network is enabled with a different SSID and Isolated From Main Network enabled.

How are the two SSIDs/networks presented to the router?  What do I need to do to isolate the traffic between both?

Thanks in advanced!

  @DuckieHo

1. These two networks are getting IP addresses from the same DHCP pool of IP addresses set on your router, and as far as router concerned all devices on both networks look the same to router.

2. The traffic from Guest to Main network is isolated, which is easy to check by trying to ping device on Main network from device connected to Guest network. The ping should fail. Deco takes care of it.
