Hi,

I am currently trying to upgrade my WiFi but have a bit of questions on how OneMesh works

I am planning to buy 2 TP-Link Archer AX72 AX5400 and use OneMesh to join them together to make like a mesh configuration.

I currently have Google WiFi on my 3 floor house:

     - 300mbps main connections

     - 1st floor gets 10-20mbps

     - 2nd floor is where the main node is located

     - 3rd floor gets 30-40mbps

     - Google Home app reports "Great" connection between the nodes

Question:

Is joining 2 TP-Link Archer AX72 AX5400 via OneMesh better than getting a Mesh WiFi (X20)

When using OneMesh will the connection being broadcasted be WiFi 6 on both TP-Link Archer AX72 AX5400?

@FLaTLinE It's my understanding that Onemesh can't join two routers together, even if they both support Onemesh.  The Onemesh router can only be used to "mesh" with a Onemesh extender.  And it's only done wirelessly.  It can't be joined via ethernet.

@david3 is correct about the OneMesh limitation.

See here the OneMesh FAQ for more details.

Here you can see the difference between OneMesh and Deco mesh.

You could use AX72 as your main router and put the Deco in AP mode.

@FLaTLinE Yes, it's possible.  As long as it's a Onemesh router and Onemesh extender.  It won't connect two routers together.  Also, the router has to be in "router" mode.  It won't work if the router is in "AP" mode.
