Noob question

 

Whenever my internet would have a hiccup, my default reaction would to restart. 

 

I must be doing something wrong as all my Deco X60 (3) would blink red after restart. 

 

I would either turn off the modem, the router, reboot the Decos via the app, the switch, or do all at the same time. 

 

Below is my set up. 

 

FTTH. Fiber. 800 MBPS Up and Down. 

 

Modem -> TP Link SG 105 E -> All 3 Decos connected to the switch via ethernet. 

 

Im using Cat6E cables. Decos are in AP mode. 

 

Is there a right way to restart/reboot my network, like a sequence of sorts. Modem first then switch then decos?

 

Sometimes, only the main deco has internet as shown in the app even if the two other Decos are connected via ethernet backhaul.

 

Sometimes its all Decos.

This is how to do proper full restart of Deco mesh running in AP mode, with Satellite Deco using Ethernet backhaul.

 

Steps:

 

1. Power off Satellite Decos (in any order).

2. Power off Main Deco.

3. Power off switch (this is optional step).

4. Power off ISP modem/router. If ISP provides two separate hardware units, one is modem and another is router, power off both ISP router and ISP modem.

 

5. Power on ISP modem/router. If ISP provides two separate hardware units, one is modem and another is router, power on ISP modem first, then power on ISP Router. Wait till ISP modem/router lights show it is fully operational.

6. Power on switch if you powered it off in Step 3.

7. Power on Main Deco. Wait till its LED light is solid green.

8. Power on Satellite Decos (in any order).
