Model: Archer C80
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.7 Build 210308 Rel.60033n(4555)

Hello

Recently, i installed Archer C80 router behind an operator box in order to stabilize and extend the very poor wifi coverage upstairs.

So, on the operator box side:
Lan: 192.168.1.0/24
Gateway:192.168.1.1
Dmz:192.168.1.254

Router:
Router Mode
Lan: 192.168.2.0/24
Gateway: 192.168.2.1
Ip Wan: 192.168.1.254
Dhcp: 192.168.2.10 to 192.168.2.50

The wifi performances are excellent and the clients on the router side communicate except that the printer (192.168.2.11) in wifi cannot be reached on a PC (box side), ping NOK on the addresses 192.168.2.X
On this PC, i declared a static route in 192.168.2.0 gateway 192.168.1.254 but NOK.
Then, I noticed that, with "SPI Firewall" deactivated, the network on the router side was reachable on the pc (box side).

But, the firewall does not have enough settings on this router, which rule or other settings creates in the routing table to avoid disabling SPI Firewall.

If you set C80 in AP mode (Case 1), you won't have routing problems anymore and you'll avoid the double NAT in your network as well.

Thank you for your reply. In router mode, on this type of consumer equipment, many functions are absent and in AP mode, there is nothing more in terms of functionality. In this case, the detailed configuration of the firewall is missing.

Home grade routers don't have more granular firewall control than that you've already saw in C80.

Using C80 in AP mode will let you have all your network devices in 192.168.1.0/24 network.

You won't need to set DMZ on the operator box nor any static routes to compensate the double NAT (when C80 is in router mode).

Here's the difference between a device working in AP mode and router mode.
