Model: Archer AX20
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.1.2 Build 20210901 rel.75450(4341)

I have 2 phone (Google Pixel 5 Android 12 and OnePlus 6 Android 11) trying to connect on wifi router AX20 AX1800, but NO one is working on Wifi 5GHz

Sometimes, it works with 2.4GHz. I tried to connect on 5GHz on my internet provider and it works very well.

Trying this, i can consider that the connection problem are not from Android 11 and/or 12.

When i reboot the router, it works again, but why it doesn't after a week or 12 days

i  tried to remove developer options on my phones but it either doesn't work.

Then i restart router, it work again, i thought that it was DHCP issues, so i set my 2 phone on static IP on tplinkwifi UI

but after 12 days, it still not work

When i try to connect, i can see it on client page, but it doesn't not get the connection and disconnect again

Can i have any help ?

Hello ! after few weeks, it's working very fine

the solution is... NOT USE WPA3 with Android devices

I saw some issues also related to it on internet

Solution: disable WPA3 security... but it works very fine on other devices (Windows, Apple products)

So maybe waiting for updates from Google and Android communities

Never thought that security would cause this problem

Thanks a lot !

Hello, only these two phones have the disconnect issue, or other wireless clients also have the disconnect issue randomly? Please check if there is a private MAC address or called random MAC address feature enabled on the phones, you can try to disable that, then confirm again:

What are the wireless settings on the AX20? Try to change to different 5GHz wireless channels, and change security to WPA2-PSK, AES, then confirm.

I reboot, it works again, and next day, Android devices cannot connect

I don't know if it is Android 10 and above, i think the issues was about DHCP, i delete the setting i set on MAC address (to have a static IP) and it works again...

Android use a random MAC address and it may be because of that, i think it's resolve...

Thanks for answering, have a nice day

@TakumiAndCo

Do you mean the issue was resolved by configuring Address Reservation on the AX20 for the two phones? Please let me know if there is any issue.

Actually, I thought it was resolve but it's just disconnected again

All Android (10 11 and 12) are disconnected, all iPhone, Windows ans MacOS are working really fine

Wifi was on WPA3, i just changed it on your recommandation

i'll let you know if it disconnects again, it can take some day

Thank you a lot for your help

@TakumiAndCo

Great.yes It's glad to hear disabling WPA3 helps the disconnection issue with Android phones.

The WPA3 is the next generation of Wi-Fi security of WPA2, it's new, and it is not widely implemented on all devices yet, manufacturers for both routers and phones may be involved in different developing stages, so you may encounter some issues. However, don't worry about this, the developers are working to improve and optimize the WPA3 working mechanism. As you already mentioned, maybe an Android OS update helps in the future.
