Hello! Should I get rid of the BT homehub & connect the X60 directly to the FTTP openreach modem?

When I tried that with dynamic IP didn't work. When I tried with PPPOE and with bthomehub@btbroadband.com PW BT as per: https://community.bt.com/t5/Home-setup-Wi-Fi-network/Using-Deco-M9-Plus/td-p/2033054/page/2

The connection was unstable and my device would connect and disconnect from WiFi and the internet.

Is there any advantage to getting rid of the home hub?

Thanks!
