Help required for TL-WR702N set-up with wired modem and router

Hi, I have a wired modem and router for internet connection. I have just purchased an ipod touch which requires wireless connection and I was advised to buy a TL-WR702N. I can connect to the internet successfully using the ipod touch but the wired connection is lost. In order to get that back I have to remove the wireless router and reset the wired modem and router. This isn't what I was expecting to have to do, can anyone please advise me how to get everything working harmoniously.
