Problem with port forwarding - opening ports

Hi All
I have recently moved from my super hub as a router into modem mode and purchased the TP-LINK router. My LAN is working perfectly.
However, if I wish to use my download station or bittorrent clients, I am not getting any open ports. I have a QNAP TS-210 which I use as my download station and with my old hub it worked perfectly.
Is there known problems with this type of configuration and the likes of Qnap, Qget and Utorrent.
