Model: RE305
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.14 Build 2021202 Rel. 42413(8583)

Hello,

I'm currently trying to setup my RE305 range extender, but I keep getting the error message "The password should be 5/13 ASCII characters or 10/26 hexadecimal digits." I setup an identical RE305 range extender 3 weeks ago and had no issues, now when I go to try and setup this one, I'm getting this password issue. I've tried updating the firmware of the range extender, setting up via the app, setting up via a browser, and trying the WPS button (which is actually a QSS button) to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chone

@Chonetastic

Hi,

Have you checked the network security type of the home router?

If possible, could you please change it to WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK?

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

@TP-Link Current network security type is WPA/WPA2 - Personal. As I stated it's strange that the other RE305 we had was able to connect yet this one is unable to, is there a way to change the security settings on the RE305 that would allow it to connect to the router?

@TP-Link Additionally, I'm able to setup my second RE305 with the existing 8 digit password whenever I set it up to extend the range of my first RE305. It's only when I try to extend the range of the original router that I'm getting the password issue. So I'm able to daisy chain the range extenders but I can't get them both to connect to the original router. Is that because the router won't allow two of the same time of extender to connect to it or is there some other issue that I'm not understanding.

Appreciate the help.

Thanks,
