Model: TL-WA850RE
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 201102 Rel.50506n (6985/8575)

Hi - this question is about the TL-WA854RE, there was no selection for that model above.

When connecting apple devices to the extender they display weak encryption.

The router (BT HH6/SH1) is set to WPA2, this must be AES as apple devices do not complain

Looking at settings when browsing into the extender it says WPA/WPA2 personal, if the extender is taking the setting from the router why is is not WPA2 only?

Also why is the password of the host displayed in clear text (in browser and app)?

Thanks

Martyn

Hey

Im not fimiliar with this specific model however at a guess when it was connecting to the main router it tried  WPA/WPA2 mode first as this is the most compatible with all devices.  However in your case not the ideal choice

If you know you are running WPA2 AES then set the connection to the main router manually to force this as below (taken from emulator).  Never tested this but in theory it should then repeat the same encryption.  My guess is this is set for WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK which is the default.

In relation to why the wifi password is in clear text, no idea... however if you have the ability to login to the wifi repeater a spot of clear text WPA key isnt a big issue.

@mtnsmith18

Hi, thank you very much for your feedback.

After updating to the latest firmware TL-WA854RE(EU)_V4_201102,  have you tried to reset the TL-WA854RE and set up again via web interface, instead of Tether APP?

And after setup, please also delete the old wireless profile and search for the new Wi-Fi profile to connect.

If the weak security issue still here, please leave me a private message and I would forward your case to the senior engineers directly.

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.
