Wifi extender connected but no internet
We have a TL-WPA4220 kit which was working fine until we removed the adapter from the plug socket to decorate. Now we don't seem to be able to get internet from the extender despite it showing as being connected. We have reset the router, reset the adaptor, followed all the FAQs and still no joy. We do have a different IP address at the main router from that which we get at the extender - I'm sure if this relevant. Can anyone help please?

No worries, sorry for the slow reply! Here is the lowdown on how to fix this
You would be best plugging into your router and see what is it, namely 1.x or 0.x lets say its 1.x
On the one that is reading as 0.x (the odd one out) connect to it via a LAN cable using a laptop or desktop.. you will need to change the IP address on the laptop/desktop to STATIC and set it for 192.168.0.123, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and default gateway set for the IP of the homeplug..
you should then be able to connect to the homeplug device using the ip address and access the web interface.. log in using admin admin unless you have changed it and under the LAN settings section.. change the IP to something on the 1.x range .. i usually set my homeplugs as 1.200 and 1.201 etc etc its sometimes better to have this statically set rather than via DHCP, but not required.
Change the desktop/laptop back to DHCP and test this.. you should now all be on the 192.168.1.x range and working again

As long as the first 3 sections of the IP address are the same this will work, for example
192.168.1.23 will talk to 192.168.1.123
192.168.1.23 will NOT talk to 192.168.0.123
I would check the device are on the same range, namely the 3rd number (in bold).

The first 2 sections of the IP address are the same, but the 3rd section IS different.
On the main router the 3rd section is 1, but when connected to the TP Link extender the 3rd section of the IP address switches to a 0.
So I think you've helped to identify the problem, but would you be able to advise how I can fix that please.

Hi,
If your adapter is TL-WPA4220 v3 and V4, there is also a beta firmware which would turn off the DHCP function when the 4220 used the static IP address;
