Hi Kevin, thanks for guiding. Changing the channel band did fix my issue. I can see my network when i am on channel 36 or 40, for other bands i still cant see it.
Currently i have changed my band to 40. I wanted to know how does this affect my connection, also which band is preferred 36 or 40?
Thanks

Were you unable to detect any 5ghz or just your own one?
What is the model number of your wireless router? It is suggested changing the router's 5GHz band channel to 36,40,44, channel width to be 40MHz/80MHz to check again.
Try to update the following driver if none of the above helps:

I do not have any other 5Ghz networks in range so i cant tell. I my laptop it shows a connection with name as "Hidden Network" and i think that my WiFi because it has full range. But the problem is it never connects after entering the SSID and Password, so i guess its a driver issue.
I tried to update the driver you provided but its only for win 7 and 10. My system is running win 8.1 64 bit. So please provide the driver link so i can check.

Hi, thanks for getting back. It actually is suggested to enable/broadcast the 5G network on your home router to check if this adapter can "see" the 5G network, as it currently cannot connect to it when it is hidden.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your response.
I see that the "Brodacast SSID" option is already enabled in my router also my smart phone is able to detect and connect to it, the hidden network problem is only in my laptop where i use TP Link adapter.
Thanks

Try my previous suggestions to change the router's 5GHz band channel to 36,40,44, channel width to be 40MHz/80MHz to check again. Thanks.

Glad to know that changing the channel to 40 helps. Generally, the adapter can only see the signal in some specific channels, if your router is broadcasting the 5G in some special channels, then it cannot "see" it.
You can use a Wi-Fi analyzer to verify what are the free and clear 5G channels, if others are using channel 36, you'd better choose 40 to avoid the interference.
