Hi,

I currently have 2 decos M4 in AP mode with the main one connected to my ISP router and the other M4 connected to main M4 by wireless backhaul.

I would like to setup both decos as AP with an ehternet backhaul using my ISP router as a swich or using another swtich, depening on my port needs.

In the FAQ page only a daisy chain topology is shown like this:

[ router/swtich] - [ AP 1] - [ AP 2 ]

But I would ilke to connected them in a star topology like this:

[ router/swtich ] - [ AP 2 ]

     |

[ AP 1]

TP LINK support told me by e-mail that this star topology might/will not work because my router/swtich doesn't have mesh capabilities.

But why would my router/swtich need mesh capabilities if mesh is managed by the Decos and the router/swtich is only enabling ethernet communication between then?

Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance!

@dvdme I have a similar setup: 3 decos M4 in AP mode and a modem connected to a switch. It works well.

Should work, it is exactly what I have: Deco mesh in AP mode, four 1Gbit ports Hitron CODA cable modem/router, Main Deco connected to one router port and satellite Deco to another. Works just fine.

@Alexandre. Thanks, that's what I'm planning to do. My ISP router is Huawei but I also have a D-Link (not the ones that are blacklisted by TP-Link) gigabit switch to work with. I don't understand why TP-Link e-mail support told me it is not possible. Maybe they just don't really know.
