RE450 loses internet connection every 30-35 minutes
Hello,
as the title says, I'm currently experiencing issues with my WiFi range extender.
I have a FTTH internet connection in my house, issued by Vodafone Italy. The modem I'm using is their latest one, the vodafone wi-fi 6 station. I've been using the internet connection without any issues for roughly 1 month, but last week I decided to buy a range extender since my room is not really close to the modem and it has a few walls in the way that weaken the 5GHz signal by a lot.
I installed the RE450 in the best position I could, about 9 meters away from the modem and with no obstacles between the two. I also installed the latest firmware as the instructions suggested. After a few days of usage, I noticed that both my 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi signals coming from the RE450 were losing internet connection for 10-15 seconds a couple of times per hour. At first I thought it was my computer's network card, but a few hours after, my roommate and I decided to do some pc gaming and we were both disconnected at the same time from the game lobby for roughly 15 seconds. I've never experienced this small outages when directly connected to the modem, even though the signal from the RE450 is much stronger than the one I get from the modem.
I also tried resetting the RE450 but the issue occurred shortly after anyway.
My pc and the RE450 are only separated my a wooden door so I highly doubt that's the issue. Has anyone experienced this issue? Is there a way to fix it or I should ask Amazon for a replace?
Thank you in advance
EDIT: My RE is connected to the modem via 2.4 and 5 GHz connection but tweaking this won't fix the issue, I did some tests and the RE keeps disconnecting regardless of the way it's connected to the modem

I have the same issue since I bough the extender in December 2020, and I see a lot of similar issues here on the forum.
Extender is a RE450 V3 with latest firmware.
Has there been any solution so far?
It is very annoying.

Just received my RE450 and having the connection issues. Drops every 4-5min. Immediately comes back but what use is that?
Ping tests show the time outs
When a device drops from the extender it immediately attempts to connect to the next available wi-fi so it goes back to my modem which is way further out. The whole idea of the extender was to boost my signal.
I'm working with their support team to see what can be done but will give it a day more.

I recently bought a RE450 for this very purpose, and I too experience that it disconnects every hour or so.
What I did notice was that it seemed as if the DNS-lookups were failing while I was actually connected, i.e. I could not visit sites I hadn't visited earlier during the session, but running yet another speedtest (speedtest.net) was fine.
Basically the dns-relay seems to screw up.
After a factory-reset this morning, it was up for about an hour. I restarted it again at 10:15 (it's not 10:45) and I expect it to drop out within an hour or so...
Also, there is no firmware button in the Tether app, so I can't check if there is a newer version - I'd assume that the button is hidden because there are no newer firmware available?

Hello,
For everyone who met similar or same problem, as this thread is pretty very old, we recommend you to open a new thread to describe the issue on your range extender so we could notice the issue faster and provide assistance:
1. Confirm your range extender is on the latest firmware (select hardware version first to check available firmware)
https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/re450/
2. Check the LED Status on range extender when the extender lose Internet connection:
Case1: If Wi-Fi LEDs are still ON on Range Extender when the issue happens:
Try to turn on DHCP Server on the range extender, and set up a smaller IP range for it within router's subnet as instruction (Method 1 ) below ( oe see photo below ):
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2965/
Case2: If WiFi LEDs goes OFF, please make sure router's Wifi signal is stable first.
Turn off router's advanced wireless settings like WiFi optimizing/ Band- steering or Smart Connect or Whole-Home Wi-Fi / Access control or Parental Control like this thread:
Fix Unstable Connection on the Range Extender by Changing Router Advanced Features
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/271832
Locate RE closer to router and see if RE LED goes off or not.
If the issue persists, open a new thread and let us know the Model of router, the Led status on RE when issue happens, when did you buy the RE and how long it has been working with the same router, thank you.
