Model: TL-SG108
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: ??

I've just installed this switch and I was doing a Verizon Speedtest and my download speeds from my iMac are 96 Mbps. I thought that was strange since the Verizon router is showing download speeds of 926 Mbps. So I unplugged my Cat7 ethernet cable from the switch and plugged it directly into the Verizon G1100 router. When I did this, my speeds were 904 Mbps download and 923 Mbps upload. I've tried multiple ports on the switch and I'm still getting the same results. And the lights are showing green, which means it should be using 1000 Mbps.

Any suggestions on how to make it faster?

@Kathy_Z

Turns out it was a bad ethernet cable. Swapped it out with another one and then got my expected speeds. I finally noticed it in my Verizon Router console which showed only one of the ports at 100 Mbps. That was the one connected to my TP-Link.

Hi @Kathy_Z , I have a similar problem. The switch is connected between my router and my pc, when its connected the LAN speed is 100mbs. If I bypath the switch with a coupler i get 1000mbs. I'd say it rules out the problem being the cable. am i missing something? thanks in advance!

@JeffSelf I do have the same problem.  I have 2 switched, the other switch (different brand name) works fine for me.  Any of you have any luck to fix the switch yet, or TPLink mis-labeled the product?

@Yuvalyitz @NNguy

As you can see it proves to be the cable issue by the OP, so we hope you could confirm this first. You can try with a different cat6 or cat7 cable between the switches on both side, the router side and the PC side, ensure they both negotiate to be 1000Mbps.

You can also try different ports on the SG108 as well as on the modem/the other switch, just ensure the port is good.
