Future Consideration Archer MR600 VPN client
Hi,
I see that I can set up a vpn server on this router, but I can not figure out how to set this up as a vpn client.
Since this is a 4G / LTE router, it is more common to use this router from a remote location and connect to the VPN server in the workplace than vice versa.
Does anyone know how I can use this router to connect to the VPN server at my workplace?

Hi, for your issue, you can set up Open VPN server or PPTP server or IP Sec on this router. But the router can't be set up as VPN client.
About the difference between the three VPNs and the configuration, please click on the link to check.
Please pay attention to IP Sec. If the site A and site B(Archer MR600) want to use VPN connection, please make sure the router in Site A supports IP Sec connection.
If so, the two site can use IP Sec connection.
Hope this answer can help you.
Good day!

Hi,
Thank you for thew answer. I think i'll return the router and buy the Asus 4G-AC68U.
For me I think it is strange that they implement (only) a VPN server and not a VPN client.
A 4G router is meant to use at a "remote location". For me I think it is more often that you create a VPN from a remote location to the workplace (head office) than vica versa.

@Solla-topee Nowadays almost all the lte sim cards do not have a public ip, so in most cases the vpn server is completely useless

Hi, you’ve got a point there.
What VPN service did you want to use, like NordVPN/Greenbow, or Company VPN for a home office?
Thank you very much.

For me a company VPN I use it as my remote workspace, a vpn client would be highly appreciated. It is an L2TP/IPsec with preshared key (and username password)

I can't understand neither why there is no vpn client (as server is useless when using 4G connection due to ports restiction)
Please add some clients - and don't forget wireguard which is really simple to implement ;)

Hi there @TP-Link ,
Just another who wants to use the MR600 as a vpn client.
TP-Link should implement that feature because today almost all ISPs do not provide public IP addresses on their 4G network, also when their direct competitors do implement this functionality.
Best regards.

@TP-Link
...and another one here.
Really disappointed for this lack of functionality. I didn't expected for such medium-high level device!
