Hi,

I have 2 Archer C6 routers:

1. root router covering the house

2. AP mode in the basement

This setup worked quite OK, but mobile devices won't switch wifi automatically only if they finally loose the poor connection. Upgraded routers the other day and OneMesh is available now, but I can't see my secondary router in the root rooter's onemesh menu. Is there any option to use the 2nd router as a onemesh repeater instead of an AP?

Thx,

fish

p.s.: checked the WDS bridging option as well, but still can't manage to see any onemesh device

Hello, sorry that the OneMesh™ router can only be combined with OneMesh™ RE or OneMesh™ PLC to build Mesh networks, two Archer C6 cannot build up a OneMesh™ network.

Hello @fishmong3r

and everyone who is looking for Onemesh between two routers,

I'm updating here to let you know that there will be a new feature called EasyMesh added to the TP-Link routers and range extenders, which will allow you to build a mesh network between two routers wirelessly.

Please visit the following thread to know more about how EasyMesh will work, leave your comments there if you have further inquiries:

@Solla-topee Let me get this straight. I have two OneMesh compatible devices, but they won't work together. Only option is to buy another piece of hw. That's ridiculous.

I appreciate your answer of course.

@Solla-topee

This is a joke, in the "TP-Link OneMesh Devices list" it never says that you can't use two routers. I just bought two archer C6, wired my whole house so that i can have one in each end of the house. And after all of that work I find out that I cant use two routers, this is completely misleading.

I understand that there is a FAQ list somewhere, but if you have a list of compatible devices i expect them to work together, even if it is the same device, or at leat be clear on the fact that it doesnt work.

It's a shame from you tp-link

Hello,

Sorry for any inconvenience caused. We actually have a FAQ on the official website and you may refer to Q10:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2690/

There is also an article which will tell you what is OneMesh:

https://www.tp-link.com/onemesh/

Hope this makes sense, good days.

I have an Archer MR600 in the basement (much concrete), an Archer C6 and two RE300 repeaters. Please provide the option to use the C6 as AP with mesh functionallity. This is not an unlikely use case. In my case I use the MR600 and one RE300 to cover the basement, the C6 to cover one side of the first floor and the second RE300 to cover the other side (ideally connected via Onemesh to the C6).

Or is it possible to connect one RE300 to another via Onemesh so that I can skip the C6? In my case the positioning is topological given. The MR600 has to be in the basement and can not be positioned in the middle of the house.

@tokad

The Archer C6 doesn't support building an Onemesh network when working in AP mode, we have explained that in this thread, please have a check:

[Wi-Fi Routers] AP Mode supports Onemesh

However, as you have already asked, you can try to connect the second RE300 to the first in a daisy chain to see if it will work as a workaround. Below is the guide to link them together:

São oportunistas, beira a trapaça. Também comprei um segundo Archer C6 para usar como rede mesh, acreditando não haver nada mais compatível do que dois Archer C6 trabalhando juntos.
