AC1750 Range Extender LEDs
Hello Everyone,
I purchased this extender yesterday and set it up as per instructions withought a hitch.
After setup I moved the unit one floor up from where my router is located and into relatively in the middle of the house. When plugged in all LEDs light up solid except for the 5GHz. It was lit after setup. But I can see and connect to it with all of my devices. Here is what it looks like.
Any suggestions why the 5GHz band works but the LED is off?

Thought I'd update the thread after finding my solution to this issue.
After acquiring another router the same thing happened with the 5ghz led. So I thought it might be a defective unit and got an exchange. Nope, not a defective unit cuz it's still happening with the exchange.
I started looking at the settings of the router and the extender and thought maybe my router is blocking the 5ghz signal somehow. So I turned off the MAC address filtering feature and BAM, the 5ghz led lit up. I then started to look at what devices were attached wirelessly to the router by process of elimination. There was one MAC address I didn't recognize and I assumed that was coming from the 5ghz band. Plugged that in the MAC address filtering list, turned the feature back on, and the 5ghz led stayed on. Woohoo!!! 👍👍

@tcc Normally, 5G wifi have shorter coverage than 2.4G Wifi. According to the screeshort you provided, RE450 2.4G is connecting to your router but not 5G, then maybe the position RE450 is located have very weak 5G WiFi signal from your Router.
Then please try to move RE450 close to your router, I think this will help.

Hi Selin,
I moved the RE450 back to the location where I set it up which is within 2 feet of the router and the 5GHz LED still does not light up. Other than the 5GHz LED not lighting up everything is working.
Edit: I just reset the extender and this time around when setting it up the 5GHz LED did not come on after configuration. Yet I still am able to connect to the 5GHz band.

@tcc That's weird. Please share the model No of your router. And also you could provide a screenshot of the 5G wifi settings on your router.
You may need to get help from Tplink, and I believe they will do that.

@Selin The router is a Netgear N600 WNDR3700v3. What I also find weird is that the extender is saying there's no signal or mac address yet as I'm writing this I'm connected to the 5G extender band.

Thanks for your update. Glad to hear that you figured it out.
If possible, could you please take a screenshot of the MAC address filtering settings page and send it to us? Then we can do further analysis at our end.
Thanks a lot.
