RE650 Wifi Extender keep disconnect every 20 minutes
RE650 Wifi Extender keep disconnect every 20 minutes
Just bought a RE650 recently. I setup accordingly and connect my PC with ethernet cable. But, it seems not stable. Keep disconnect every few minutes later. Any suggestion or troubleshoot can try?

What is the operation mode of the RE650 now?
Considering it connects to the main router by wired cable, it should work as an access point.
When it lost connection, are you still connected to the wifi but no internet or you disconnect from it at all?
If it is still connected, please click here to get the IP address and gateway.
And please ensure that the firmware is up to date. You can adjust some wireless settings of main router to improve its performance.
Good day.

I have the same issue
firmware-version-content : 1.0.7 Build 20190521 Rel. 52591(6985)
hardware-version-content : RE650 v1.0
I get internet from my box "Freebox V7" through wifi then got my NAS connected through wire to get access
so ...
Internet > Freebox V7 wifi > wifi RE650 rj45> rj45 NAS
I have now activated both of them (see screenshot), maybe 5ghz have issue with my "freebox v7".
Time will tell ...

I have the same problem too, updated to latest firmware but it will work great for a while, before getting packet drops to the point of unusable.
Sometimes the 2.4ghz or the 5ghz will drop.
I find restarting the RE650 will resolve the problem.
Problem is that I need to do this several times a day.
Faulty hardware?

Good day.
Sorry for the delay.
Later for all who had the same issue, please refer to the following suggestions:
- make sure the main route has a stable connection;
- change the wireless advanced settings on the router to reduce the Wi-Fi interference, such as channel 11, channel width 20mhz for 4Ghz; channel 40, channel width 40mhz for 5Ghz;
- reserve the a fixed IP address on the router for RE650;
If the above suggestions failed to work, please help us gather the following information:
- What is the model number of your wireless router?
- How long have you had the RE650, and is it working fine before?
- When the connection dropped, would the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz still lit up?
- What did you need to do to get the connection back?
Thank you very much for your time and patience.

@Kevin_Z I'm not the OP, but I have the same issue: It's not connected to the router via cable, it's connected to the PC via cable. It shouldn't be an access point.
Whenever it loses connection, I can't even access the repeater anymore until I restart it. My router doesn't lose internet connection. All the lights are still properly lit up, like they should be. Restarting the device by unplugging it from the power fixes the problem, but this happens several times a day and it's incredibly annoying. I'm connected to the 5 Ghz network with my device and I don't intend to switch to 2,4 Ghz, since the whole point of me replacing my old repeater was to use 5 Ghz. I'm up-to-date with the latest firmware, too.
1. The connection is stable. It' like 2m from my router and there's no walls in between.
2. I can't do that on my router. I changed the sending mode from 802.11ac to 802.11n. That didn't help. I've tried all of the different channels in both modes by now.
3. Already did that when I installed it.
Here's my info:
1. I have a Speedport Smart 3.
2. About a month. It has never worked properly.
3. 5 Ghz is still lit up. I don't use 2,4 Ghz, so I have it turned off.
4. Unplugging the repeater to restart it.

I have the same issue as well. And guess what, it's not our main router problem. Our main router works perfectly fine. I found out that our Extender kept dying, then 1minute later, it switches back on. It keeps repeating and sure it frustates us. Worst still, we just bought it like few months back.
Case:
1) Setup accordingly to the instructions.
2) Setup completed.
3) Connect our devices. Connected successfully.
4) No issues for the first few weeks.
5) 3rd week or so, the problem came up.
6) We thought the location was bad, we relocated it.
7) Tested for a few days, problem still persists.
8) We then realised that it's not about the location or our main router... It's the EXTENDER!
9) The extender kept resetting by itself, sometimes it switches off for 1 or 2 minutes, then switches back on.
10) We reset the Extender.
11) PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS! Haiz..
