Is it possible to connect an external outdoor antenna to this router? I would like to use this antenna: Poynting 4G-XPOL-A0001.

Hello, please read below:

Antenna Type V3/APAC: 2 Internal 4G LTE Antennas
V4/V2/V1: 2 Detachable 4G LTE Antennas

The TL-MR6400 V4 has the external 4G antennas, while we do not suggest you to change antenna,cause the antennas on one device work alternately,  if you want to change the external antennas on your router/AP to meet your special Wi-Fi requirements, we recommend you to replace all of them with same type of antenna other than change only one of them.

Good day.

Yep, the device has the SMA Female connector type, so the SMA male connector type of the external antenna should be fine.

Besides, if you want to get better signal strength, you can consider to buy a network amplifier.

I also have a TL-MR6400 V4 and I would like to connect an external antenna to it. I thought the two external antennas were for wifi only. I was thinking of the Poynting 4G-XPOL-A0002 Cross Polarised High Gain 4G Panel LTE Directional Outdoor Antenna. Did you have success with the Poynting 4G-XPOL-A0001 ?

@Kevin_Z My problem is not the WiFi performance, The router is placed under a massive sealing so the 4 G connection is weak. Gives a ping >158 ms on 3G.. How can I increase the 4G performance without replacing the router

@My4GLTERouter

Is your router model TL-MR6400 v4.0? How did you verify the 3G signal is weak, is there any detailed info?

Who is the SIM card carrier? What if you put this SIM card into a phone, will it work on 4G? What is the band? You may install an LTE Discovery App on the phone to verify this, then check again what is the band when it is on the MR6400.

You can install the beta firmware we provided here to select the same band as on the phone, then monitor the LTE signal again:
