How to Retart my TP-Link TD-W9970 via Command Line
Hi all
I have a TP-Link TD-W9970 Modem-Router,
and currently when I want to Restart it, I log into the web interface, and then choose System Tools -> Reboot.
I would like to automate this, so I can create a small .BAT file in windows, and then run this file,
and it will perform the reboot,
without me having to log into the router's web interface, and click my way thru it.
What is the simplest way to do it?
Thank you

You can power cycle it to soft reboot it except accessing the web UI.
While there is no other way on the router itself to reboot it.
May it help and have a good day.

@Kevin_Z Kevin thank you very much for your reply.
Can you please tell me what you mean by power cycle it?
You mean to physically press the power button twice, to turn it Off and then On?

Yes, press the power button to turn it on or off.
Or you can unplug the power adapter and plug it back to the wall socket to soft reboot it.
Good day.

I see what you mean.
Thank you for that idea, but this will not help what I need.
I would like to be able to do it without physically going to the router.
And I woul like the method to be able to be used for Automation.
So Pressing a button will not be good for both these requirements,
and using the Web Interface is good on the remotely part, but not on the Automation part.
If someone can answer my question, this will really help.

Thanks for your reply, I got your point.
Since the router does not support auto-reboot via command line, combined with the automation request, you can consider to make it work with a smart plug.
With a smart plug, you can setup a schedule to turn it on and off at certain time, thus you can control the router to reboot it by power cycle it.
There are some TP-Link smart plugs, like HS100, HS110,HS105, they support remote control as well.
May it help and have a good day.

@Kevin_Z Kevin, you are from TP-Link's support right?
You are offerring me solutions that are external to the Router,
but I think the router does enable it, and you just don't mention it.
For example:
If you go to the Modem-Router's Product Page,
and then click on the "Specification" tab,
it says:
You see the "Command Line Interface" option?
Can you please raise this to second tier support?
There is a high chance that the router does enable what I want, and maybe you are just not aware of it yet..
Please help me by raising it to 2nd tier support..
Thank you

Thanks for your reply.
The TD-W9970 does support command line interface, while it is mainly used to check some configuration settings;
It does NOT support auto-reboot via command line.
You can test it on the router at your end also.
Best regards.

There is no such manual available; while with your computer connected to the TD-W9970, you can access the cmd page and use telnet-help to get the available command line/settings you can access.
Best regards.

@Kevin_Z Thank you.
I did telnet <MyRouter'sIP>, and indeed it connected to the Router, after entering the Username and Password.
BTW, is it possible to Disable the Telnet access (while leaving the Browser-based access enabled)?
