Dear All,

My house have 3 floors, each floor have a RJ45 connected to my Internet-box.

I would like to change my WFI routeur, and connect in each floor a repetior directly connected in RJ45 to the main one.

Which solution tp-link is the best in this situation.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks for your reply.

First, if you still want to use the current main router and connect Deco to  the RJ45 at each floor, you can configure them as the access point and build up a mesh wifi system.

Or you can make the current main router as bridge mode and configure one of the Deco as the main router and ensure that the RJ45 connection at each floor goes to the Deco eventually. Then you can connect the slave Deco to the RJ45 to get internet.

You can click here to get the differences between the router mode and AP mode.

May it help.

@Bruce06

What do you mean that each floor have a RJ45 connected to your Internet-box? Is there a RJ45 connection at each floor which connects to the main router directly?

There are some devices you can use to extend the wifi range:

1. The Deco mesh wifi system, it can be 2 pack or 3-pack, they can connect to each other by wired cable or wireless and build up a mesh system, the main Deco need connect to the main router by wired cable.

2. Or you can change the main router, and add some network expansion devices to extend the wifi range. For example, you can change a normal wireless router, like Archer C7, and then use the access point or range extender to extend the network, while compared to Deco, it cannot build up a seamless roaming connection.

Good day.
