fake time setting
fake time setting
Hi,
time setting look fake: you can only change the TZ but not the datetime which looks fixed at 01.01.2017 00:00:00 GMT on power-up. No timeserver setting, no internal timeserver-preset either, hence all related feats look pretty much pointless.
Or, is there a (non-documented) way to synch timedate for true?
thx

What is the led status of the TL-WA855RE? Can you access internet from it?
Usually, once it connects to internet, the time settings will synchronize automatically.
Meanwhile, please ensure that the firmware is up to date.
Good day.

Could you please show us a picture of the time settings page of the TL-WA855RE?
You can try to hard reset it by holding the reset hole for 1s with the extender powered on and reconfigure it to give it a shot.
Meanwhile, when and where did you buy this extender?
Best regards.

I noticed that even though you enabled the Daylight saving time, it still shows inactive, so may I know have you ever pressed save button after you change the time zone manually?
Meanwhile, try to change it to another one and change it back to the right one to give it a shot.
Best regards.

Hi,
clic on 'save' flashes the 'saved tickmark' msg but the status msg remains the same. Un-ticking DS result in greyed-out settings.
Changing the TZ moves the datetime stamp for/back -ward by the expected number of hours difference from GMT but datetime is always relative to 01/01/2018 00:00:00 at power-up. There's clearly no synch to timeservers
thx

Hello, thanks for your reply.
Is it possible for you to connect the TL-WA855RE to the mobile hotspot to do a comparison test?
If still the same, could you please login to the web UI and send us a picture of the settings-system tools-time settings page?
Good day.

The smart phone supports personal hotspot feature, in other word, with smart phone accessing internet via 4G, it can broadcast another wifi network to share the internet.
Back to your case, you can enable the personal hotspot feature on your cellphone and connect the TL-WA855RE to it to verify whether it works well or has the same issue.
Best regards.

hi sorry for so late followup, in this period had to use ssh but my TL-WA855RE drops the connection every some 7..11 min for who knows why, so connected to the router directly - slower, weaker signal but stable.
I could not check via hotspot with my phone, the range extender was unable to connect, whatever I tried, do gave up.
Anyway, re-checking the time settings, I see it's correct now, so again for some misterious reasons it could connect to a time server eventually. Nothing changed in the router menawhile, and I'm 101% sure timeservers - ntppool.org among and above all - have always been reachable from behind the router.
thanx
regards
