Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.8 Build 20190403 Rel. 40244

I am using my Deco in router mode and don't want to change to AP mode.

However I have the need to use my own DHCP server. Deco will still be the default gateway.

Can you create the option to disable DHCP in router mode. Thanks!

@krazy

 Hi, it is planned to add DHCP on/off button on the Access Point on the firmware 1.6.0; but no plan on the wireless router mode yet;

As for the static routes, I am afraid there is still no updated news yet;

For more details, please refer to this link:Smart DHCP on/off option under Access Point mode

Thank you very much.

Hi,

There is no option to disable DHCP server in the router mode; And it cannot satisfy your needs right now.

We will remind our R&D colleauge and they will evaluate it.

Good day.

Yes thank you. I am now forced to use yours in router mode. I want the ability to run my own DHCP server with DECO in router mode.

This should be a small change for your R&D team.

We will remind our R&D colleagues and they can work on it and evaluate the feasibility.

For now, as a workaround, you can configure the Deco as access point.

Good day.

Using DECO as an accespoint only is not a solution. I need router mode functionality but without DHCP.

Would be nice if DHCP can be disabled in the next firmware.

Thanks!

Bjorn

@bwbboot

Hello, thanks for your requesting.

Sorry to tell you that there is no update yet. To be honest, it will take some time to evaluate the feasibility to add this feature first; once it passed, it will be added, but the time period is hard to say.

What we can do now is to keep an eye on website for more udpates;

Wish your understanding and have a nice day.

deco's filter function is amazing.
The filter function does not work in the bridge mode.
However, there are many things that Deco cannot do.
It is not possible to set Static route or any DG by DHCP.
As a workaround, I would like to set up DHCP for other routers to avoid it, but if Deco uses AP, it does not have a DHCP disable function.

Deco does not consider user flexibility at all.
This is not a product for everyone.

@syun

Hello, thanks for your requesting.

You can read this article to get some differences between router mode and AP mode.

The Deco uses smart DHCP, when it works in AP mode, once it detects that there is another DHCP server ( main router), the Deco will become a DHCP client automatically; meanwhile, once it detects that there is no other DHCP server, it will work as a DHCP server then, so the devices connected to the Deco can still manage it.

May it help.
