I’ve bought a tplink av600 powerline today and I’m not sure if I’m trying to make it do something it can’t do! Please help!

The background is I have BT broadband running at just over 50mbps via a bt smarthub.

At one end of the house the ipad iPad and iPhone only get ‘1 bar’ and sometimes drop connection.

so I bought the powerline thinking I could hardwire the Ethernet cable and send the signal down the electric sockets and boost my Wireless signal by plugging in the extender in the dead spot.

so; I’ve followed the instructions and what seems to get set up is a desperate network called for instance  TPlink123. What that means is that the iPhone needs to be manually switched over to that network which is pants as the little ones won’t know how to do that! Also it’s only running at 15mbps.

is there a way with this kit to boost the same BT hub network so it seemlessley boosts the signal so the iPhones etc don’t need to do anything? Or do I have the wrong bit of kit?!

Thanks

Hello,

What is the model number of the AV600 powerline adapters? Is it TL-WPA4220KIT?

Meanwhile, you can change the wireless settings of the powerline adapter to the same as BT's hub to build seamless roaming.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-593.html

Or you can change them manually. https://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-398.html

For the speed issue, it is suggested to move it into the same room as BT smarthub to do a comparison analysis first.

And then you can refer to the below instruction to narrow it down.

Any updates, just let us know.
