Is it safe to install the 'EU' firmwares on 'US' adapters? Or are there updated 'US' tagged firmware files available anywhere? The official support site still only shows 20150306 version for US TL-PA8010P_V1.

Thanks Freddy - much appreciated. Early indications are that this seems to have fixed my chronic PA8010P disconnect problem. Usual symptoms of randomly losing network connectivity, for a couple of minutes. If this 2.4.9 works for everyone, then why aren't TP-Link making this release generally available?

Would be interesting to know what TP-Link have actually changed in 2.4 or is it simply that Qualcomm fixed something in the NVM code....

The 2.x.x versions are Qualcomm's core firmware. All the high profile brands are on 2.4 now, all the way down to their earliest 1200 series adapters - only TP-Link allows their users to be stuck at 2.2 or even 2.0. They could build and release updates - there have been betas provided by TP-Link Support team - but they don't.

how to check if the update was correctly done? I have version 2.4.0.55-01_801191_170330_915, is the version to have after the update?

My TL-PA8010P is connected to a TL-WPA8635P. The version of the TL-WPA8635P is 2.0.0.382-05_863111_160225_901. Do I have to update this version too?

Qualcomm base PLC firmware 2.0.0 is ancient and bug ridden. Updating the WPA8635 should update the PLC firmware as well.
