AV500: TL-PA4010PKIT Issues
Model :
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
I own a TP-Link AV500 Powerline Adapter (with AC Pass Through), Model No. TL-PA4010PKIT(EU), using the HomePlug AV Standard.
There are several issues I'd like to address here:
1. Plug & Play:
This does not work for me, the devices won't connect automatically. Pairing manually is easy though when using the Pair-button or the Utility software (when entering the password).
2. Firmware:
My devices are supposed to be Ver:2.3 (says the box and the devices). However, when I tried to install the latest V2 firmware update, the device resets to its default firmware ( 500A-1.1.0.844-01-20120919-FINAL ). Installing the latest V3 firmware ( 500A-1.3.1.2141-00_401193_160717 ) works fine.
3. Data Rate:
My standard setup is from the router (inbetween the basement and ground floor) to my computer in first floor. I usually get up to 16Mbps (the router gets 100Mbps), constant downstreams are unstable, even with lower data rate. At the same time the utility says the data rate is 85Mbps.
When plugging the two devices directly next to each other in the wall, the utility software says the data rate is 11Mbps.
What I need is minimum 16Mbps with a stable downstream (in order to use LiquidSky which is a cloud computer with minimal latency, designed for gaming). Still I would really like to get 100Mbps since the device promises that it can do five times that bandwidth.
4. Error:
On certain tests, the utility software had a message: "The local device hasn't been connected, please connect the local device." popping up often when there was nothing going on (no updates, no changes etc.). I assume that this was due to crashes in the default firmware.
Tips and help are very much appreciated!
