Hello,
I have a TL-WR841N v8.4 router.
Current firmware is 3.15.9 Build 140724 Rel.63227n
Now I checked the firmware page and when I chose V8, there appears to be a new firmware version called TL-WR841N(UN)_V8_170210, released this year.
But I'm not sure if it's compatible with my device since the other versions (including mine) don't have "UN" in the title. Still it's shown on the download page. I also made sure I chose the correct location on the site (Germany).
Here's the download page: http://www.tp-link.de/download/TL-WR841N_V8.html#Firmware
What does "UN" stand for and how do I know if it's compatible with my router?

It stands for "universal" and yes, it is compatible with your router.

Hello,
I have a TL-WR841N v8 router.
Firmware was 3.15.9 Build 140724 Rel.63227. I updated firmware to TL-WR841N(UN)_V8_170210 and restore router's settings from previous version. The router works fine but I can't login with old user name and password. The password was 13 characters length. Can anybody help me? I don't wont to setup router from zero....

If you are sure that the username/password you entered is correct and you still can't login, then the upgrade to the new firmware doesn't probably support reading in old config files. This happens if firmware changes certain features in a way which introduces new implementations. See http://www.tp-link.de/faq-1388.html

It got resetted because of the update. Try "admin" as username and password to log in and then simply change it in the settings.
