Having just brought this popwerline adapter I was v pleased to see a full 4 bars on the previously-unconnect-abls smart TV at the back of the house. The only problem is that everything else now seems to run ridiculously slowly now, incluidng the PC onneceted the router via an ethernet cable. Any suggestiosn for why this may be?
By the by, I have a Virgin media Hub 3 router.

My guess is your Smart TV is running a streaming TV service that uses multicast, and the WPA4220 doesn't handle that correctly. If one thing in the infrastructure does not handle multicast traffic correctly, then it becomes broadcast traffic - and that clogs up everything.

Many thanks for your reply Peter. And yes, we do run Netflix, Amazon et al on the smart TV. Do you know if there is anyway around this, either with the WPA4220 or another adapter?

Individual (single-cast) streaming services shouldn't be much of a problem, but once you get to multicast traffic, everything in your home network infrastructure needs to be multicast-aware - router, switches, PLCs, WLAN APs.
