Hello,

I got my dual-band TL-WDR4900 and since I do not have any 5GHz devices to use with, I am planning to not installing the 5GHz antennas and cover the connectors.

However, some have said that incorrect antennas will lead to high SWR and eventually causes the radio to overheat (and somehow damage it).

I am concerning whether this high SWR issue will happen if I do not install the 5GHz antennas because this band is not utilized but the 5GHz radio is left remain ON?

Appreciate your inputs.

Thank you.

Hi,

Running a radio emitter without antenna (or with wrong antenna) has never been a good idea because it's very risky for electronic components.

You should ask your question to TP-Link support to be sure (in opening a ticket)...
