Would it be possible to send a message the user msa6ok and ask him to reupload the files?

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/uc/info/426891

I cannot do it because I am only LVL1.

Hey, you can send a message to him, click the nickname and then you can see the home page, click message to do that.

Thanks for the update and hard work @ bobsnail and Chaos2oo2.

I just stitched together a 2.6.0.22 firmware for the EU V1 TL-PA8030P Kit and updated my devices. Everything is working fine!

If anyone wants to try, you can download the firmware from the link below:

Hi,

Sorry to reply to this old subject but I had the connection problem between plugs (I was randomly disconnected) and this subject helped me. I installed firmwares given in this thread and the problem was solved.

I am In France so I need EU.

I have a TL-PA8010P and a TL-WPA8635P connected together.

When I connect to the TP-Link interface for the TL-WPA8635P, I have "1.0.3 Build 170405 Rel.76611n" for Firmware version and "TL-WPA8635P v1 00000000" for Hardware version.

Using tpPLC, the version for the TL-PA8010P is "2.4.0.55-01_801191_170330_915" and the version for TL-WPA8635P is "2.4.0.55-01_863111_171026_901".

Is there a more recent firmware with no connection problem? 2.6.0.22?

Also, I noticed that I have only 300Mbps (TX and the same for RX) between my plugs with the actual firmware. On the electrical panel, the electrical outlets are on the same line so I expected more (My house is recent). Maybe a newer firmware could improve that.

Can you explain me how to update please?

Thank you in advance.

This is a very informative thread with lots of information. Thank you all!

I have plenty of PLC adapters in different locations, and struggle since years with instability. To cover most problems, I have a locally attached machine (most of the times OpenWRT routers) reset the PLC using plctool -R from open-plc-utils .

So after find this thread and in another one, the 2.8 firmware for QCA7500 I managed to upgrade all my adapters in one location, and see how they behave in the long run.

That is:

2*8010 V1

2*8030 V1

(some Devolos also with 2.8)

5*8630 V1

Upgrading the 8010 V1 and 8030 V1 worked straight out of the box, using either the original tpplc (as long as the device name is original, eg tpver_803111_141031_009 , otherwise only "unknown device" as also mentioned in another thread) or with the (older) tool from the archive PLA8630P(EU)_V1_170511.zip . This one does not work very well, though with multiple networks or multiple interfaces.

Also, upgrading via WLAN seems to be flakey (for unknown reason, maybe dropped packets), locally attached worked better, however sometimes just not possible physically.

Upgrading via either port worked as well (albeit the constraint to use only port 1 on 8030).

Upgrading the 8630 was a bit tricky, as the PIB was corrupted somehow, and only loading the PIB a second time, then doing factory reset made the adapter use the MAC and USR name from the PIB. However, network key got lots and was reset, so needed manually reset this afterwards (after restoring network connectivity somehow, either WLAN or temporarily resetting another adapter's network key to default).

Hey everyone,

thanks for keeping this thread going and posting your latest findings here - I'm very impressed by how this turned out, the effort people put in and that we could help many other power line users.

@netadair could you share the firmware files you used to update your devices?

Thanks

@Hummel95

Just to keep this thread alive, I updated my TP-PL8030P V.2 (EU) to the latest firmware that is shipped with the V.3 of this model.

TPLink tends to release and forget all the older devices, although they use the same hardware.

In any case for anyone that want to give it a try:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v2N4M57PtY2urH3pfuMVXt0KuEITOg7C/view?usp=sharing

Previous version was 2.2.XXXX

How this is stiched together is explained also from another previous post. It's basically the .pib file of the V2 (my device) with the .nvm file from the latest (V3 device).

DISCLAIMER:  Although I have tested this with my devices, I cannot guarantee that it will work with yours, I'm not responsible for any damage.

Why is your device I'd now different ?shouldn't it be 141031_009?

@Binger

No you cannot update with the one I provide you. Mine is for V2.

Though you can do it your self easily.

  • Download the latest from V3.  https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202008/20200818/TL-PA8030P%20KIT(EU)_V3_200117.zip
  • Keep on your desktop only the .nvm file.
  • Download now the latest from your device V1. https://static.tp-link.com/2018/201808/20180802/TL-PA8030P(UK)_V1_180720.zip
  • Keep on your desktop only the .pib file.

Now you can update your device with those two files on your desktop.

I cannot guarantee that it will work, since I don't have that version, and I never test that before. Do it at your own risk
