Hello,
I have a archer d7 adsl modem... I am based in Australia,
however I accidentally upgraded the firmware to : Firmware Version: 1.6.0 0.9.1 v002d.0 Build 160216 Rel.57110n .... this firmware is Archer D7(EU)_V1_160216
... I didn't realize at the time it was (EU) Europe firmware...
after I noticed this problem I decided to download the correct firmware from tplink Australia website - Archer_D7_V1_150824 and try to upgrade I get a error 4506: wrong version number.
Also I noticed down the bottom it now says Hardware Version:Archer D7 v1 00000002
How can I rollback to different firmware?

Hey dude,
My wife bought a fairly new D7 recently , and I also updated it to the 160216, and I tried to downgrade it just now, I can successully downgrade it back to 150824 without any difficulty.
Did you download the right firmware ? Try to download it again, maybe the zipfile is broken...
Hmmmm.....Maybe downgrading using a wired way is better?

Thanks for the reply,
I just tried downloading it again but I still get the same message : Error code: 4506
The uploaded file does not match the device's current hardware version.
@jim moriarty
can you please tell me what your archer reports version number down the very bottom of the page..
mine says - Firmware Version:1.6.0 0.9.1 v002d.0 Build 160216 Rel.57110n Hardware Version:Archer D7 v1 00000002
Is it supposed to be D7 V1 0000000"2"

I have the exact same problem. But after installing the firmware my speeds have dropped drastically and want to roll back in the hope it will fix it. Getting the same error and have the same hardware number 2 at the end. Very frustrating.

Same Problem Here :(

I'm also having the exact same problem as
bocskay where my sync speed halved for uploads and I can't downgrade the firmware. I have initiated a ticket with TPLink and am waiting for a reply about how to downgrade...

Hi cosjav,I did the same thing and support just kept asking for more and more details. So I contacted my ISP which is TPG and they could see an error on my line so they reset the line and sent a technician out to do some other fixes. After I disconnected an old security system that is not in use it all went back to normal. Not sure if this helps but could be worth a call to your ISP. Perhaps the new firmware is less forgiving of line issues.cosjav@gmail.com wrote

I'm also having problems with this. A factory reset helps but this thing still dies every few hours. I'm going to downgrade till I find a firmware that works.

What firmware are you using? and what is the issue for your modem exactly? You may give the details to tplink tech support (
support.sa@tp-link.com) to get help.

I found something interesting at
WWW.TP-LINK.COM.AU
In the support page of D7, it shows :
1.If your current firmware is AU version(160322), you can upgrade AU version(170511) directly.
If your current firmware is EU version(160216), please upgrade beta firmware( Click to download ) first and then upgrade to AU version(170511).
2.The beta firmware is only for Australia customers.
Seems a special firmware was made for Australia. Does anyone install it and can show some details?
