Hey.

So I've been experiencing some stability issues with my 10 months old TL-WR940N router.

Let me start from the beginning.
I used to experience random connection losses once per month or maybe twice per week when on quite heavy use. We couldn't connect this problem with anything and it kind of didn't bother us that much. So it stayed that way.
Over time the issue started to get worse.
For example, we have 2 computers connected to the router. Now when one computer is being used to watch Youtube video (download) and the other one to upload a video to Facebook the router kills the internet connection and it can only be reestablished when power cycle is performed.
It used to be like that and it was kinda avoidable and I could let that issue be but now over time it has been getting worse, until now when the connection is killed when I by accident or on purpose play two Youtube videos simultaneously, leading the connection loss multiple times in an hour which is VERY frustrating.

Now I've tested this and when I don't do a power cycle and just reboot my router it says that the WAN port is disconnected, when it obviously is connected. I also thought that maybe the modem was faulty or something and plugged the cable from modem to my computer straight and the connection was okay, meaning the problem should be with the router.
We used to have also TV and mobiles connected to the router but now with such unstability issues we only have two computers connected, to not have random simultaneous uploads/downloads which is what kills the connection mostly.
Also the router won't shut down or anything, also no other device won't shut down or anything, there is just no internet connection coming from the router anymore.

One computer is connected via LAN cable and the other one uses external Linksys AE3000 adapter if this matters.

I have been experiencing a similar issue. After a large upload my machine would lose access to internet. Other machines would function normally. Functionality restores after a reboot.

I realized that this means that some piece of software can't deal with large numbers of packets being sent, and since this is not crashing the whole internet connectivity, but prevents access for a specific machine that did a large upload, it must be something that collects data on how much traffic local network machines consume.

Sure enough, when I turned off "Statistics" under "System tools", I don't have issues anymore.

By the way, I have v4 hardware of tl-wr940N

But in any way, as soon as someone ports openwrt to it, I am switching.

Turn off "Statistics" in "System tools"

That resolved the issue in my case
