A brief summary of the subject at hand follows:


1. From yesterday, from the moment I set up the range extender, to today, around lunch-time, the device worked perfectly, topping speeds of up to 2 mbps (the main router goes up to 5, so that's fine) and the connection was steady.


2. However, something happened today around noon. Google Play's speeds wouldn't go over 600 kbps but I'm sure it was even lower for the apps weren't downloaded at a speed proportional to the connection's. The connection was unsteady and often it would go below 100kbs.


3. When connected to the main router, apps are still being downloaded at 5 mpbs.


4. I assumed that, for some reason (I'm no expert, it's the first time I'm doing this), my devices could be connecting to the main router instead of the wifi extender, hence the low speeds in this part of the house (because they had the same SSID).


5. After changing SSID, everything was fine for 1 hour or so. Then it went back to being slow.


6. Rebooting the Wifi Extender does nothing at all.


7. I wondered whether the fact that both the main router and the wifi extender are in the same channel could be causing interference. However, I've been unable to change channel in the TL-WA854RE settings.


As such,


A. What can be causing this? Why would it work so well for some time and then go back to being slow, without any environmental changes?


B. Is there a way to change the wifi channel in TL-WA854RE? I've been unable to do so, there doesn't appear to be an option for that in this extender's settings.

Firmware of your WA854RE is up to date?
How many signal lights when it works OK and it stops.
What's the channel on your main router? Did you try to change it and reconfigure the range extender?

Your model is Archer T4U?
Where did you get the driver for linux? As I know, it is not compatible with Linux.

It is fully up to date. I updated the firmware (even though it already had installed the same version) to no effect.

4 signal led lights are usually on, sometimes the full (5) lights are.

Current channel is ch. 13, after I changed the ch. in my main router the ch. also changed in the range extender. I wanted to put them in different channels because I have a feeling the main router may be intefering with the range extender.

I cannot change the channel in the range extender alone, for some reason. This is weird - that seems like such a straightforward thing. Does the WA854RE not have that option?

Where did you get the driver for linux? As I know, it is not compatible with Linux.

We cannot change channel in the range extender. Its channel will be the same as the main router's.
