Can someone explain me, why two routers, one modem/router W8970 v1 another WR-841ND work differenly in wireless router mode?? I mean, connected both routers using same cabels with the same network topology. ISP cable goes into WAN, IPTV box to the adjacent LAN port.
The box is working fine with WR-814ND w/o any additional settings in the router. Now connected everything to W8970 v1, after the first try to estbalish connection with ISP provided, IPTV box disappears from the list of connected devices to my router. The box continues to search for the providers for a long time without successs. Hard reset on the box.. and again is shown connected.

The box is working fine with WR-814ND w/o any additional settings in the router.

If so, can you confirm if there are any requirement for the router to make IPTV work? You'd better explain it first, and then we can check if W8970 will work in that way.

- Yes, that's correct

- I have read a lot of documentation in the web regarding configuring WR-841ND for IPTV box. It even works if I only bind the mac address with the IP address. Question is, does IPTV box have to be connected to the router via bridge connection only?

I do have a remote connection with the modem, as all configuration is done by another person, because modem is actually used in another country :)
What also happened with W8970 whilst we're trying to configure it is: we left W8970 in ADSL router mode and for whatever reason, the IPTV box could connect to the ISP. I mean, it accepted the login and password for the account and opened one of the channels, but changing a channel takes a time.

ISPs may use different ways to fulfill IPTV connections. In your case, I don't see anything confirmed with your ISP.
If you just bind IP and MAC when it works with WR841ND, did you try the same method on web interface of W8970?
Anyway, it is important to contact your ISP first...

Ofcourse ISP came to set up the box, because they don't share their settings with anybody. Looking at the modem, they said it's good modem, but maybe too sophisticated..simpler versions works fine.
I tried to bind MAC and IP..I will send config file of WR841ND soon.

Please let me know, if any other information could be of help. The goal now is to make W8970 working with the same settings as we're configuring WR841ND.

Finally..got the reply from Customer Care support of TP-Link on this matter.
Unfortunately this device TD-W8970 does not have the same possibility of WR841ND because it is old product and it will not get new firmware as well and we advise you to use WR841ND instead of TD-W8970
