If you hard reset it, any changes of those lights?
If not, it may be faulty. Under warranty, try to get a replacement.

Flashing Signal Strength LEDs
2015-07-07 19:07:54
I am also experiencing flashing Signal Strength LEDs. I have switched off/on my main router and have also hard reset and reconfigured the range extender - no change
searching the forum seems to indicate a few units appear to be having the same issues at this present time - whats going on?
Is the unit faulty?

If you reset the device to factory defaults successfully, signal LEDs should go off. If not, I think it is faulty.

It is Faulty!

M Diamond you are correct in your assumption.
Having contacted TP-Link via their "Chat" function and switching off/on my router, then hard resetting the Extender to factory setting (many times!) I sent them a copy of the "log" they then confirmed it was faulty.
I am now awaiting my new exchange unit from Amazon.

Received 2nd unit from Amazon - It's LEDs started flashing before completion of set up! surely I have not been sent a duff one? Reset unit and modem used different browsers and different laptops still flashing LEDs. Took it to another location (different modem) still flashing LEDs - so it must be duff and sent back to Amazon.
Received 3rd unit - Guess what, It's LEDs started flashing before completion of set up! I have e-mailed TP-Link support and am just about to try the other location with different modem.
Frustrating or what!

It seems that there is misunderstanding... As I said, if lights are still abnormal after we reset the device to factory defauts settings, it may be defective and we can replace it.
In your case, after reset, lights are normal. And you reconfigure it but the problem occurs again?

Hi M Diamond,
I do not believe there is a misunderstanding; after reset the signal strenght LEDs have never been normal.
To summerise; I have had three units in which they all flash their Signal Strength LEDs (indicating no internet connection) when they have been Hard reset and setup as per the quick installation guide. This occurs in both my house and my Son's house. Note the first unit worked ok for a week before we noticed the flashing LEDs.
I have raised a ticket and am awaiting TP-Link support to reply.

Flashing LEDs Indicating "no Internet" can be incorrect!
2015-07-24 22:15:30
Hi M Diamond,
Spent over an hour with an expert taking over my PC to find out what’s wrong.
After some router changes, a WA854 beta firmware update and return to original, WA854 resetting, using SSID_EXT, still no change to the "no internet" status and flashing LEDs.
Even though the WA854 summary page stated "no Internet" between router and world and the LEDs flashing meaning "no internet" I was able to access the internet using my Smartphone.
That’s how it’s been left; it is currently working with the Signal Strength LEDs flashing.
I have confirmed it works with all my devices; My Ipad (ios8.3) did not work until I turned it off then on again and the Sony TV took 4 attempts to setup (keep on detecting lack of internet) before it was happy.
Well let’s see if it is still works over the coming weeks.
