When setting up IPsec VPN tunnels can we input a dyndns in the "Remote IPSec Gateway Address (URL)" instead of an ip address?

I am finally able to see VPN sec as enabled and up from both ends, however in the beggining I was able to ping and see the windows files shares from one point to the other but for some reason I am unable to do so.
What could be wrong.
I repeat VPN shows as enabled and UP from both ends
