Region : Brazil

Model : Archer C9

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version : Latest

ISP : VIRTUA

I am using an Archer C9 with latest firmware as main router and am thinking to extend the range using another dual band router. Please help me to know if the following configuration will work using stock firmware on both routers (I´ll buy a WDR3600 in that case).
Well, the idea seems simple, establish a WDS connection in the 5Ghz band between the C9 and WDR3600 (WDS Client), then use only the 2.4Ghz band for clients to connect to the WDR3600. In this way using one radio for WDS and other for the clients the throughput should not be halved. Is it not possible to do ethernet cabling between the routers, so the solution must be wireless.
Could this be achieved that way? Another suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

My Archer C7 works fine in this way.

It could be better for you to use an AC router instead of the WDR3600.
Further more, an AC router with broadcom chip (Archer C8 or C9) will use the beamforming feature.

TP-Link has the best routers of the world for wireless bridging...

You can use either a dual band router or a dual band range extender to achieve this goal.

RE200/RE210 are dual band AC range extenders. They can repeat both 2.4GHz and 5GHz concurrently by default. It can also work in highspeed mode which repeats one radio only, leaving the other radio to serve the clients.

Check the emulator here: (Wireless menu --> Highspeed)

You're right, but in my case an extender is not a solution because I have 3 PC's plugged on my Archer C7... ;-)

 Quite a flexible installation. That will save the several wireless adapters on those computers.

Yes, my R7000 is at the ground floor and my Archer C7 at the first floor.
The AC wireless link is like a gigabit cable link...
