Hi I recently bought a 150mbps PCI Express Adapter TL-WN781ND for my desktop. I installed the adapter but the performance is extremely bad. It keeps loosing the connection whereas my laptop and Xbox work fine in the same room. My Internet speed is only 7mbps download speed. Im just wondering since my adapter is only 150mbps and my router is 300mbps, would this be the problem with my connectivity issues? Should I buy a 300mbps adapter even though my connection speed is nowhere near that? Thanks for any help

We like to see signal level and interferences from another wireless networks on your new wireless card. Can you install inSSIDer or some other software?

How far is the adapter from the router? If it is too far and signal is not good, the connection can't be stable.
Besides ,use inssider to check the interference and choose a best channel for the router.
By the way, what's the operating system of your computer?

In our case it is a Win10. The router is close, and when the connection drops, also all other devices loose connection, so it must be some issue between the two chipsets that makes the router crash.

I found a fix: In the device manager, you have to disable the option that the computer can switch off the device to save energy for the atheros WLAN chipset... works like a charm now.
